Passwordless Logins

Modified on: Mon, Jul 27, 2026 11:28 AM

WFU community members are able to bypass entering their password when logging into accounts by using a passkey (fingerprint, face, or screen lock). Passkeys will also remain as a second step when signing in with a password. This speeds up the login process and is more secure since a passkey cannot be shared with someone else.

If you have Windows Hello or Apple Touch ID configured, Google will present the following message:

Google login prompt offering to use a passkey with Windows Hello or Apple Touch ID

If you already have a passkey set up for Two-Factor Authentication, little or no further action is required.

If you do not have a passkey set up, Google and your operating system will guide you through setting one up. For more information about setting up a passkey, please see the Using passkeys for Google 2-Step Verification guide.

If you get an error message, click "Try another way" to enter your password. See the Passkey error troubleshooting assistant for more information.
