Connecting to Your Azure Virtual Desktop

Connecting to Azure Virtual Desktop on your Mac
  1. Install Windows App from Apple's App Store: Windows App on the Mac App Store
    ⚠️

    NOTE

    Note: requires macOS 11.0 or later. For information on updating your macOS visit Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

  2. Click the download icon. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.

  3. Click "Open" once the Windows App is installed.
  4. You will need to allow access to your microphone and camera if you wish to use them in a remote session. If prompted, click "Continue", "OK" and "OK".
  5. Select the "Workspaces" tab and click "Add Workspace".

  6. When prompted for a URL enter https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/api/arm/feeddiscovery and click "Add".

  7. Enter your WFU email address (including @wfu.edu) and click "Next".

  8. You will be redirected to Google for authentication. Sign in to your WFU Google account.
  9. Double-click the VM under "Primary Virtual Machine" to start a session.

  10. You will be asked to sign in to your virtual machine using your WFU username followed by @deacnet.wfu.edu, for example [email protected], and your Wake Forest password.
    ⚠️

    NOTE

    The first time that you access your Azure Virtual Desktop it will take several minutes to start while your profile is created. After this initial connection, starting your Azure Virtual Desktop will take approximately 2 minutes.

  11. Once the Windows 11 desktop appears you are fully signed in to your Azure Virtual Desktop.

  1. Download and install the Windows App: Windows App - Microsoft Store

  2. Launch the Windows App application from the desktop icon and click "Sign in".

  3. Enter your WFU email address (@wfu.edu) and click "Next".

  4. You will be redirected to Google for authentication. Sign in to your WFU Google account.
  5. You will be presented with a list of virtual machines assigned to your account. Click connect on a VM icon to start the session.

  6. After a few minutes you will be asked to sign in to your virtual machine. Enter your WFU password and click OK.
  7. If your VM is currently powered down you will receive a message to wait for it to boot.
  8. You should now be signed in to your virtual machine session with your WFU credentials.
