Technology Procurement with Workday ISD

Modified on: Fri, Jun 30, 2023 11:45 AM

Beginning July 1, 2023 ordering for a custom computer configuration or a device outside of the normal refresh cycle, such as a new hire, can now be completed through the Workday Procurement Process. This includes tablets and accessories. Information Systems and Procurement have partnered to streamline and standardize this process for Wake Forest faculty and staff. A step-by-step guide can be found at https://is.wfu.edu/workday-procurement-process/

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why is this change happening?

A: As a result of an Internal Audit assessment, and at the direction of the Board of Trustees,  all WFU computers must be inventoried and managed to ensure the appropriate Security protocols are in place.

Q: When will this new policy take effect?

A: The technology procurement policy will be implemented on July 1, 2023.

Q: Where do I go to purchase/request a computer?

A: Visit https://www.myworkday.com/wfu/d/task/2997$10914.htmld where you will be prompted to sign-in to Workday.  You can also search for 'Create Internal Service Delivery' to find the ISD task.

Q: Does this replace my every four year computer replacement by Information Systems?

A: No.  This policy is designed for computers used for (including, but not limited to): new hire requests, grant funding, student work study, research, labs, and classrooms.

Q: How do I know if I need to use the Workday Procurement Process?

A: The Workday Procurement Process will be used for new hire requests, secondary computing/tablet requests, work study computers, or other computing needs.

However, the Workday Procurement Process does not replace the IS-initiated, four-year exchanges for your primary computer. These IS-initiated, four-year exchange refreshes typically happen for eligible faculty and staff during the Computer Exchange refresh cycle.

Q: Where can I learn more about the Workday Procurement Process?
