WFU Password Reset and Security Requirements

⚠️

NOTE

If Google Prompt is the only 2-step verification option on your account, you may see a disruption when changing your password, which may cause issues logging in after the password reset. It is recommended that you add an additional method of 2-step verification to your account before resetting your password. Please see our Google 2-Step Verification Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for instructions on how to set up additional 2-step methods.

Your WFU account password must be reset every year* and should never be shared with anyone. This policy is enforced to maintain a high level of security for your account and the Wake Forest University network.

Your password must:

  • Be at least 8 characters
  • Be no more than 32 characters
  • Not be any of your previous 10 passwords

Your password may contain:

  • Uppercase English letters (A – Z)
  • Lowercase English letters (a – z)
  • Digits (0-9)
  • Special characters: ! # $ % & ( ) + , – / ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~

*A group of users with access to privileged information may have a different set of password requirements, including changing their password every 90 days. These individuals will be notified by Wake Forest Information Security (InfoSec).
